Curvy women are real women. Skinny women are real women. Women who have had boob jobs or lip enhancements or liposuction are still real women. Size 0 may make no sense mathematically, but a woman who wears that size is as real as the one who wears a size 16. What makes us “real” people is not the shape of our flesh but our basic humanity. And we lose our humanity when we judge – not when we lose weight, gain weight, or make the intensely personal decision to undergo cosmetic surgery.

All I want is an episode of My Little Pony where the antagonist is male pony with a fedora cutie mark who goes around harassing everyone for pursuing their own interests instead of dating him and then the mane 6 use the elements of harmony to banish him to an actual place called the friendzone and where he is kept prisoner until he learns to appreciate having girls as friends and see them as actual people.

SEXISM IS OVER

i feel uncomfortable seeing this o-o

Good. Tell your buddies this is what oversexualization is and why it’s a problem when it happens to female characters.

I’m offended at how out of character these are.

I mean come ON where are the Dwarf’s nipple-beards? And you’re going to tell me his nipple barbel thingys wouldn’t be shaped like tiny hammers?

#The Sorceress actually looks the way she does for a reason but no one cares about that

No, no one does, and no one should. Because every reason we ever hear is an excuse. Elizabeth spends half of Bioshock Infinite half-dressed in lingerie because a jacket and skirt were ‘all she could find.’ She could have absolutely found a shirt, if the developers wanted her to have one. But they didn’t; they wanted her running around in underwear.

You are correct about the dwarf. I have made some adjustments.

WINGED BUSH BRAID

While I do agree that sexism in video games is out of control. Elizabeth was not wearing ‘lingerie’.  She wore a corset top. Its is Lady Comstocks dress but when Elizabeth puts it on its suddenly lingerie? Okay dokay…

Sorry, pick another one. Try Tera for example.

Bioshock Infinite is set in the early 1900s (1910s?). Its fashions and cultural conventions reflect the sentiments of the time period it’s set in.

Corsets were lingerie all the way up until the late 20th century. THEY WERE LINGERIE. THEY WERE A DIRTY NAUGHTY THING TO SHOW and had intensely strong sexual connotations. You can’t cherrypick these things either - making an exception for two characters for the sake of fantasy when the rest of the character cast follows period clothing conventions accurately AND reflects a highly puritanical society doesn’t fly. Lady Comstock’s outfit is just as inaccurate and period-inappropriate as Elizabeth’s (her outfit looks like a prom dress with a bustier), but for Elizabeth it makes even less sense in the context.

That is comparable to playing L.A. Noire and having a female cast member spend over half of the game in a bra and an open jacket while attempting to deliver a serious period-accurate narrative.

Elizabeth’s corset’s design itself is also period inaccurate and incorrectly constructed. It’s out of place and it’s clearly an intentional choice as her concept art was full of period-accurate outfit exploration. They made the active choice of dressing her in a highly sexually loaded piece of lingerie that highlights her breasts. For reference, actual 1910s corsets were shaped like this - because they were meant to be worn under clothing and to shape the body into a pigeon-breast S curve under the dress and jacket.

But of course this kind of clothing doesn’t show maximum boobage but conceals it and reshapes it so it couldn’t be acceptable on a woman we’re supposed to immediately read as attractive in a vidya game.

Also TERA and Bioshock Infinite attempt to convey very different things. TERA is an openly oversexualized game meant pretty much exclusively for male titillation. Bioshock attempts to be a genre-defining subversive story with a focus on drama and character and it should be better than this.

THE CORSET MASTER SPEAKS.
